Opium Exhibition Extended

Due to success the opium exhibition: Opium, the State as Dealer, originally scheduled to run until today, has now been extended until November 2nd. Anyone who hasn't yet visited the Tax and Customs Museum in Rotterdam will have longer opportunities to learn all about the lucrative opium trade. It's convenient that the museum has its own company car for advertising. This was also used to collect the loans from our collection, which were necessary to tell the complete story.

Pipe of a Famous Field Marshal

Pipe of a Famous Field Marshal

From today, our central display case features a special acquisition: the pipe of the most famous British military commander, the Duke of Wellington. Encased in an imposing red leather case, this memorable pipe was presented to General Arthur Wellesley in 1813 for his courageous actions on the Iberian Peninsula. Wellington managed to drive Napoleon's armies out of Spain. The English monarch's gratitude is evident in the fact that, in addition to the pipe, he also awarded the title Duke of Wellington. The pipe itself is an impressive piece of silver smiths work, fully gilded. We would be happy to inform you about the telling details of the decoration when you visit our museum. The object is on view till October 4.
