Description:
| Tobacco pipe made of metal, so-called kiseru with small funnel shape bowl, without heel and straight stem in which a bamboo shaft with metal end piece with golden mouthpiece. Stem of the bowl engraved with a blossom branch with lotus flower and bud with gold inlay. Mouth piece engraved carp (sign of long life) with golden fin and diamond eye. Signature of three engraved characters, read Ho, Ki and engraved. |

| Luxe pijp van klein formaat (voor een vrouw is de kop te breed), bestemd voor een opgegroeide jongen. De karper representeert in dit geval het teken van kracht en vitaliteit. De lotusbloem is een zeldzame afbeelding voor Boeddha en dient om op te zitten bij het mediteren. Edo periode (1600-1865). Pipe, Vol. 7- II, 1998, p 11. Dit exemplaar. Bijschrift: Japanese ladie's pipe with small bowl. The pipe is made of bamboo, with an iron bowl and stem and gold mouthpiece. It is decorated with a fish (a carp) as a symbol of long life. The eye of the fish is a diamond (circa 1800). |
