Description:
Tobacco pipe made of meerschaum with kalmash bowl, round bottom and upgoing stem with stub, a bridge from the stem end to the bowl. Bowl front embossed the courtship of a shepherd and a woman, surrounded by trees and bushes in which all kinds of animals such as two deer, a hare, dog, on the left a standing hunter who shoots at a bird, bowl base a rocaille with foam top, filled with roses, stem along flat lobes with a groove held together by a surrounding band with rolling parts, hemmed with a border of accanthus leaves. Original mounting with silver bowl rim in which a drum-shaped lid is clamped, lid topped by a prancing horse on which Frederik the Great, locking chain to the cuff mounting with a curved plate with pearl fillet hemmed and secured with an open-cut edge with garlands. Silver marks on lid edge and stub mounting. |
